Valeriana officinalis—Common Valerian Seeds
An introduced herb from Europe, this plant has been used medicinally since ancient times. Personally, I prefer it as a garden plant, although I have several friends who grow it for its other benefits.
It grows well in the garden border. Its height during the summer is dramatic and its flower stems are upright and not floppy. After the flowers have faded you'll still have it's lovely ruffled foliage, but the plant will die back to the ground in winter.
This plant is very attractive to pollinators but it can be an invasive or noxious weed. So long as you don't let it reseed heavily, cutting it back after blooming, you'll be ok.
Germination instructions are included with your seeds. (about 150 seeds)
Basic Tree Facts:
Valeriana officinalis
Grows 4-6' x 24-36"
Likes sun to light shade
USDA zones: 4a-9b
