This is a West Coast native plant that grows from the coastal area of Gray's Harbor in Washington state to southern California. (Although there is an isolated population on Vancouver Island in Canada.)
It's considered a great choice for coastal hedging since it can withstand salt spray well. Like other bayberries it can also produce wax but it produces so much less than other bayberries that it's rarely used for this purpose.
It is adaptable to many different soils and can handle summer drought and/or wet soil.
Germination instructions will be included with your seeds. These will require some seed-starting experience. (70 seeds)
Basic Plant Facts:
Morella californica or Myrica californica
Grows 10-12' x 12-15'
Likes full sun to partial shade
USDA zones: 7a-10b
