Another name for this lovely plant is touch-me-not. Like many other Impatiens species this is due to the fact that touching the seed head when they're ripe will result in their exploding—sending seeds soaring into the air hither and thither.

They naturalize with ease so be sure to deadhead if you don't want too many next year. Yes, these can really spread, but they're easy to weed out. Each year I keep my patch in a certain area where the seeds are allowed to grow and I yank out the others or pass a few along to friends.

Impatiens balfourii will do best in damp shade. They will wilt a great deal if not given enough water. If you live in an arid part of the country, this is likely not the best tropical looking plant for you. I would suggest something more xeric.

Germination instructions are included with your seeds. These are easy to grow. (about 30 seeds)

Basic Plant Facts:
Impatiens balfourii
Likes sun to light shade
Annual
