Given to me by a friend she's had great success growing this in her garden. Like the other forms of this vine, it's attractive to pollinators and it will bloom prolifically for you. The colors are just beautiful too and are a bit more understated than the vermillion, gold, or orange. To me this vine is a bit more elegant and the color of the flowers plays well with others.
A tender perennial, it will remain evergreen in warmer climates. Don't despair though if you're living in a zone lower than USDA zone 8. You can still grow this vine from seed as an annual and it will still be spectacular if started early enough indoors.
Originally from South America, this vine is a hummingbird magnet. Since it blooms throughout the entire season the birds wiil continue to return to your garden again and again.
Sowing Instructions
Considered a perennial is USDA Zones 9-10, in colder zones it is an annual. Start seeds directly outdoors in a prepared seedbed. In colder zones, seeds can be started indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Surface sow and cover with a thin layer of vermiculite.
