Dracunculus vulgaris—Dragon Flower Seeds

THIS LISTING IS FOR FRESH CLEANED SEEDS AND NOT BULBS.

If these will grow in your climate, grow them! They are striking, and so what if they smell like rotting meat when they open! Just be sure to let your neighbors know what that smell is if you live in the city. We did and now every year we like to invite them over when the blooms unfurl.

Since the smell is meant to attract pollinators we are all able to get over the disgust. Right?

Just don't plan to use these in a indoor bouquet or for your wedding. That would NOT be a good idea. I saw it done once in a gardening magazine and later they posted a few of the MANY letters they'd received about what a poor idea it was to use one of these as a cut flower.

When the bulb is not in bloom there is lovely green foliage to look at so it isn't totally a one-hit wonder. It adds a nice texture to the garden.

Germination instructions are included with your seeds. It will take at least 3 years before the plants are old enough to bloom, but these are hardy little plants so they can tough it out if you have the patience, space and skills to care for them. (about 20 seeds)

Basic Plant Facts:

Dracunculus vulgaris
