Asparagus densiflorus 'Myersii'—Myers Foxtail Fern Seeds
One of my favorite plants—I have an addiction to big Asparagus ferns—they're very easy to grow from seed. This one I wasn't sure about, so I ordered seeds and grew them just to be sure that they didn't revert.
In Portland these are tough plants. Mine live outdoors almost all year but I always bring them indoors if we're getting close to a cold spell. They may be potentially hardy if planted somewhere that's winter dry but their large tubers can be susceptible to winter rot and death if left in a regular garden setting. I know because I have killed them. (I keep trying.)
This plant is great as a houseplant too. Just be sure to give it lots of light and keep it watered but with sharp drainage. They don't like to sit in water. This too can rot their tubers.
Germination instructions are included with your seeds. These are very easy to germinate.
Basic Plant Facts:
Asparagus densiflorus 'Myersii'
Grows 24" x 48"
Likes full sun indoors, shade on summer patio
USDA zones: 8b-10b
